JUDITH JARVIS I am a BA (Hons) Dance graduate who trained at the Laban Conservatoire, London and Middlesex University. Immediately after training I worked, full-time, on the stage, touring the UK and Europe: Firstly with a covers band; secondly with a fourteen person musical theatre company. Most of our work was in schools and youth focused environments. Then followed a period of freelance acting work when I contributed to a number of UK film and television productions; also editorial modelling work when I contributed to a number of printed publications. At this time I was choreographing a number of fashion shows, also performing as a dancer. In the year 2000 I set up gyroscopic - an arts venture which has brought to fruition a series of projects including The Widening Gyre, a short Nature Drama film that was acquired by Britain's biggest independent television broadcaster, ITV and Deep Water - a chilled, thematic piece put together by myself and Bristol musicians, which received subsequent play on UCB radio. More recently I have concentrated on creating live dance and physical theatre for gyroscopic - with help from UNESCO, Bristol City Council, Saint Stephens and the West Of England Network. Recent teaching and performance projects have led me to Berlin, Italy and Poland. I have a passion for initiating and perpetuating innovative, cutting edge performance and I am currently available to teach. For further information please contact me, Judith@gyroscopic.org |
