• Our first short film, named after the cult poem by W B Yeats, "The Widening Gyre*", followed the semi-autobiographical story of a young falconer and a young falcon.  Here the word *gyre" refers to the spiralling trajectory of the falcon's flight.

• Gyroscopes in science generally refer to spinning masses, mounted on a gimballed support structure which allows rotation along 2 perpendicular axes.  The resulting gyroscopic stability is an interesting phenomenon which, with a little thought and imagination, is sometimes seen as metaphysical...Indeed, references to gyres and gyroscopic stability can be found in texts ancient and modern.
